If you like GNU/Linux, please read up more on your favourite Linux system with the help of books, this will be a very good source of information when your computers starts to act up or when you are off line due to some issues. This site will help you out when you are on line, off line is in the near future.

There should be a network icon somewhere on the panel on your desktop. Thats the Network Manager that you use to manage connections.

I get the message: " The system network services are not compatible with this version. "
I have a gnome desktop DVD of Suse 12.2 installed on my computer and I need to know how to make the serial modem dialer dial out to the internet.

If you're comfortable with terminal commands, then you could install 'wvdial' first. The 'wvidailconf' utility can be used to configure the modem, then 'wvidal' to dial.

For Gnome users, there is the 'gnome-ppp' graphical dialling utility available:

    Code:

    zypper in gnome-ppp

    No Network Connection Available

If you have configured your network connection correctly and all other components for the network connection (router, etc.) are also up and running, it sometimes helps to restart the network interfaces on your computer. To do so, log in to a command line as root and run:
    rcnetwork restart.

I don't see why not as long as you have the required depends/libraries installed. You do have Gnome desktop, right?

Oh dear lord! I must have been half asleep when I replied to you cousinlucky. I'm sorry. No, Gnome-ppp won't work in Suse. You'd have to get the one for Suse.
