Updating openSUSE from 12.1 to 12.2
I did this today using Tumbleweed. It took quite a while (about 2 hours using a fast college wired network connection). I haven't tested everything. My partition structure appears intact (/,/windows, /home, /srv /opt).
I recommend backing up first, just in case!
Good luck!

I've never done an upgrade in a VM. But I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do so.
Of course, a backup via VM snapshot would be prudent.Jay

Did I misunderstand the original post? I thought it was about updating bare metal without data loss.
