lost gui, need help with command line

hey all, need some command line help
installed some new ati drivers but that screwed up the gui, so im left with command line.
i need either a)to find out how to rescue the system by uninstalling the drivers, or b)use command line to change graphics card settings (as in yast)
or failing that c) copy the files i need from linux to windows partition.
any help for these three options would be very much appreciated as im not experienced with command line!
    thanks!

    fixed it

hey, found a way of fixing it. if anyone else has a similar problem:
    as root type: init 3
    then type: sax2
set it up as it was before,
    save and exit. finito!
