Try logging in as root (administrator) by typing:

    Code:
    su
and entering your root password at the prompt. Then type:

    Code:
    SaX2
A graphical window should pop up and allow you to configure your desktop environment. If you just want to get something working, it will prompt you at first to "Keep these settings and quit".
