    i got the 1st normal reboot screen
    then on the secnd that it flips to iget down the bottom
    " missing operating system "
    was the mission succesful?

    98 hasnt been installed yet

    should i try?

    and with xp do you need to register over the internet when you load it or can you just not register

    I must be reading your initial posts wrong then. I'm assuming you had Windows on this machine already? Which is why I had you run FDISK/MBR to fix the master boot record. Unless, the MBR was set for W2K. If that's the case, we need to figure a way to run a different command from that CD.

    so if it says "missing operatng system"

    if i now load xp if should be okay?

    anu random crap with the partitions i should know about?

    yes i did have windows on the computer, but i think i deleted the partition
    ( thing that holds all windows data?) when i put on linux, so should i now try to load an operating system on?

    If the partition is gone, then yes, go ahead and install. If you think the partition is still there, it might still be recoverable.

    and how would i go about recovering the partition ( regardles of the operating system eg 98,2000,xp)
