    Well from what I can see it's not background services that are stressing your machine, There's a lot going on on your X desktop, from the top and PS it's difficult to tell what's causing the slowdown but you seem to be listening to music, downloading, browsing using skype, probably useing all your bandwith
    and maybe hammering your disk (I know the're only 5 percent system time on there but it is a snapshot)

    I think it's doing lots of things at once that is stressing your machine, only you can know what's important to do at any particular time,

    Can I suggest multiple disks, to balance access... (scsi is nice as I believe there's less cpu hit then ide) and as much RAM as your machine will take

    and don't do everything at once...

    I think you are right. But the problem is how can i stop using video, skype, gaim , d4x and browser. I need these all the time.

    Btw, May be i am going to buy another 256 SD Ram. I hope then i will get much better performance.
