    You need to install

    gcc
    gcc-c++

    These are the CD or the usual repositories if you have included them as Yast sources.

    g++ / yast / command line

    does yast read the cd for the installation or does it download it?

    also how would you go about getting the compilers manually and istalling it from the command line

    Yast will look first in the installation media, if it cannot find any, it will look online.

    If you absolutely want to go through the trouble of compiling gcc and g++ from scratch take a look at this page
