Why only amaroK can play mp3 ?? (this post continues the "mp3's" trhead)

Hello. I`ve read the "mp3's" thread, and followed "OldCPU" instructions.
I`ve downloaded and installed SMART, then installed the packages, like he said..
But, still, my players couldn`t play mp3 files (they openned them, but couldn`t execute).
Then I clicked the green up-arrow ("upgrade all packages"). Now, after the upgrades, amaroK can play mp3, but not the other players (like Banshee).
In Linux the codecs are not shared by all the applications, like in windows? I have to install them for all my players?

    Thank you. gustavobap
