Smile XP can't write to SUSE

    Hi all!

I have a duel boot machine, xp and suse 10.1. xp is on hard disk 1 and suse is on hard disk 2. The xp drive has a fat32 partition which is used to store all of my shared data. I also have another computer on a network that is xp only. I have followed the very useful tutorial at: http://www.tweakhound.com/linux/samba/page_1.htm
Almost all is working fine, i can access the shared data from xp (across the network) and when using linux. The only problem is that i cannot write to the shared partition from xp to suse across the network. In samba, i have enabled write access so i have a feeling that it may be something to do with permissions??

Any help would be very much appreciated!!

    Thanks NiceYellowEgg

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

No. When i'm booted into suse (hdb), the networked xp computer is trying to write to the windows harddisk (hda)

    Thanks for a quick response

Solved it! After editing fstab to allow rw access on the mounted drive, it occured to me to check the windows access. My Music, My Pictures etc had been set to read only.
