Trouble installing sound drivers after kernel update
Hey guys,
Last night, i ran the system update in YaST, since i hadn't done it after completely changing all of my hardware (new processor, mobo, video card). It updated my kernel from '2.6.13-15.12-smp' to '2.6.13-15.12-default'.
After reinstalling my nVidia display drivers, I attempted to reinstall my OSS sound (AC'97) drivers to have it tell me:
Ive already checked those 4 packages, and they are installed and using current versions (according to YaST). Ive attempted to completely reinstall OSS, to no avail. At this point, im completely clueless as to what to do next...Kernel and OSS module versions do not match - forcing rebuild.
Building the OSS kernel module - please wait...
It is likely that some important Linux packages are not
installed in your system which makes installing OSS impossible.
The Linux (RPM) packages required before OSS can be installed are
kernel-source, gcc, binutils and make. You can find them from the install CD/DVD
or the web/ftp site which you used when installing the Linux distribution.
Please take a look at /usr/lib/oss/logs/soundon.log for more info.
I've also attempted to use YaST to configure my onboard sound, but am still running into the same issues mentioned in this previous thread: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/sus...re-change.html
Should I just attempt to revert back to my previous kernel version, or is there a way to fix this issue while still using this kernel version? The kernel module snd-intel8x0 for sound support could not be loaded.
This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
Thanks in advance!
