SuSe 10.1 Beta 8 Boot Disk
Hi guys,
need some help.
I have a spare laptop lying around, thought I'd put SuSe on it! Great!
Problem:
It's an old Acer Travelmate 313T i.e. a Pentium 1.
The thing is that it has a PCMCIA CD-Rom and it can't boot from it.
Now I got a bootable stiffy with it, which get's me into dos with CD-ROM support.
So, I need help doing one of 2 things:
1. Install SuSe from DOS
OR
2. Make a boot disk for SuSe and hopefully it will have the drivers for my cdrom on there to work, else I need to get the drivers on there too somehow.
I saw there is a mkbootdisk on the SuSe cd, but it needs to be run from a linux box, so this doesn't help much.
Help?
I found SuSe 9.1, and I'll even install that, on it I found loadlin... although I'm not quite sure how to use it.
All I got is:
loadlin name_of_kernel initrd=name_of_initrd distribution_specific_options
from here: http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/wi...l.html#loadlin
but it didn't help me much? still dunno what I'm doing!

There are some bare bones distros which fit on a single floppy, these may help
