Hey there everyone....
This morning when i tried to play some videos on my desktop, there was no sound output. It was working fine last night. I turned my computer off after when i was done watching an episode of lost and today the sound no longer worked. I have absolutely no clue what happened... so if anyone could please help it would be GREATLY appreciated.
By the way i have suse 10.1 64bit

What program are you using that doesn't give you sound? Is it the only program with no sound, or is the problem with other applications as well? Can you hear sounds if you play with your system notifications in KDE (such as the sound effects you can set when you open a window or click a button)? What sort of sound card do you have (brand, model)?

No sound after having had it.
I initially installed Suse 10.1 on my new Pavillion m7557c. The first time I installed, I had sound, but could only get 16 bit display resolution. The second time I installed it, I connected to the updates site at the appropriate spot during the installation and I was then able to get 24 bit resolution, but now I have no sound even though I have volume control.
When I run alsa config I am greeted with the message "No supported PnP or PCI card found." The first time I installed there was a different driver used than the second. It worked perfectly fine. Now using Yast to attempt to delete the sound card to re-install it results in nothing. When I select "delete" nothing happens. I was hoping to delete it and choose the other sound card driver that worked before. I can't remember what it is, but I figured I would recognize it when I saw it.
This is the line from #lspci regarding the audio device.

One more thing, I just ran alsaconf while typing this post and my volume control now tells me there is nothing to control. Before running alsaconf I could at least turn the volume up or down (graphically that is, not audibly)
