Problems installing Nvidia Drivers
I have suze 10.1 installed on my laptop (Evesham Voyager Cinebook - Mitac 8060b Chassis)
I tried installing the drivers through YAST as shown on the NVIDIA site, but after waiting several hours, it failed adding the update site.
I read the stikythread and followed the instructions;
I used YAST to check if GCC and the kernel-source were installed and it would appear they are.
After i pressed ctrl-alt-F2 and logged in i tried running the fort command -
innit 3
and got the error -bash innit- Command not found
i tried one or two fo the others but got the same error.
Any ideas where im going wrong?
It would be prudent for me to point out that im a complete noob when it comes to linux and i dont have a clue what im doing. Its all very alien coming from the point and click world of windows, having said that, feel free to explain anything as detailed as ou can if neccasary.
Thanks alot ^^

The command is "init 3" not "innit 3". The command should also be run as root.

Try
You could also tryCode:telinit 3
the command is definitely on your computer, as you would not be able to boot without it.Code:/sbin/init

Okey dokey, firstly, thanks for your reply.
I tried those two, the first, telinit, gave me the same error message as before.
The second, /sbin/init requires me to be a "superuser", which is odd.
Its just occured to me... i think i made a stupid mistake >.> im just going to go try something =)
EDIT:
Yeah i didnt log in as root -__- lol. Ah well.
However, maybe you could shed some light on something for me...
What does pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2 actually do?
and how do i exit it properly? i was just using the windows key on my keyboard to cycle outof it... but i only found that through button mashing >.<
Cheers

hmmm ok, well i got to the point where the Nvidia Updater seems to open.
But it just seems to sit there doing nothing, do i have to wait a long time for it to do anything?
Also, once i have opened the installer, i can no longer return to KDE...
cheers.
