Does it give you some sort of error message? Some sort of irregular screen activity? HD activity?

seems like grub is not working alright.
Do you also have other distributions (windows or whatever) or data on those disks?
If you're booting, do you keep the dvd in the drive? What happens if you do? Normally it will also say something like: "boot from hard disk". Try that.
Now what? You have Linux installed and running. The GUI is working fine, but you are getting tired of changing your desktop themes. You keep seeing this "terminal" thing. Don't worry, they'll show you what to do @

    Are you certain it freezes?

Can you press <ALT><F1>, or <ALT><F3>, <ALT><F3>, <ALT><F4> (you may need to press <CTRL> in front of the <ALT>, my memory is slipping, and I'm having a senior moment). Theoretically this could bring up another screen, possibly with an error message providing a hint as to the problem.

SuSE can have difficult with SATA Hard drives, and my guess is they are causing the problem. Actually, I didn't know SuSE could handle 5xSATA drives. You could check your BIOS, and select "Legacy mode" if the SATA. You could also try booting with only the SATA drive that has SuSE installed. ... but those suggestions are based on an assumption (that could be wrong) that SATA is your problem. It could be something else. Hence getting an error messages is important.

Try CTRL-ALT-F1 - this should show you some input. Also, assuming you get to the command line, take a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log (type less /var/log/Xorg.0.log) and see if anything funky comes up. This is all under the assumption that the problem is something to do with the X server.
