Im under a university download limit of 10MB so i cannot download the readymade rpm package for Mplayer .
I tried downloading the codecs and then using another player but that doesnt seem to work.Assuming .
have i done something wrong or is ther someother way to proceed.
How can i get Mplayer to work.

take a look at PCTech101
While I should heed the same, try the forum search option it works well!
The reality is that you need to update your system with a package manager...
10mb! a day? Someone needs to talk to the system administrator and tell them to get out of the 90's. You cant even do a window update with 10mb. I would ask for some of your tuition back!

go for another distribution
I recommend you surf the web, and find another distribution which provides non-crippled multimedia as part of the package. And then purchase that distribution and have it mailed to you. Forget SuSE.
