suggestions
Make certain you:
a. downloaded a good .iso file for the DVD (and the website checksums matched the measured checksums (by you) of the downloaded file, and you
b. burned the DVD properly, and you
c. have the DVD drive selected as a boot drive before the hard drive.

yea, did all those you recommended, I also tried it on one other PC and when I went to install, after I hit enter the screen went black. Could it be cause I have newer hardware that might be screwing w/ the install? if so how would I fix it, could I?

install 32 bit version of SuSe coz 64 Bit is not recognizing your machine's hardware... there is not a visible difference between 32bit and 64bit version on 64 bit proccessor ( check this ).
you can install 64 bit on your machine. select 'generic IDE modules' in module section. its a bit tricky and problematic in long run...
check this Link too..

ok, will try to install w/ the i386 ISO, btw what do you mean "generic ide"?
Would it be easier to install over the internet? Sorry for all the questions, <-----newb here
- 10-24-2006 #6on boot up, when it SuSe throws 'HardDisk/CD Drive not found", select Load Modules from the list. Generic Ide Modules are listed there.... after loading these, SuSe will recognize everything and will start installation process.. but the problem is, you have load these modules on every boot up. other way is, create new initrd and include IDE modules in it.ok, will try to install w/ the i386 ISO, btw what do you mean "generic ide"?
