    suse upgrade question..

    I was wondering if i can upgrade a 32 bit suse to a 64bit versino oe should i do a clean install, and can i use 32 bit yast reosatories for 64 bit version ...by thr way im useing suse 10.1...thank you...im running an AMD 64 ATHLON

    I've never tried a 64-bit install, but from what I have read, a Clean install is needed

    I would not recommend you attempt to upgrade a 32-bit distribution to 64-bit. I don't believe it would work anyway, but you're very likely to cause yourself problems. Of course, I also do not recommend you install the 64-bit version of SuSE to anyway, and here's why:

    You cannot use the 32-bit repositories with 64-bit SuSE, as far as I know. Nor would you want to, as this would introduce possible instabilities and broken packages in your system.
