Question User not recognized after reboot

I installed SUSE 10.1 by itsself. I configure my desktop and get my bookmarks setup, etc. rebooting as necessary and everything works just fine. I shut down the computer for the day. The next day I boot up and it won't recognize my username. The name is listed on the left like usual but it wont let me log in with that name. It doesn't tell me I got the wrong password, the screen just goes black for a second like its going to log in then returns to the login screen.

First I just created a new user, but the next day, the same thing happened. Then I had 2 users that it wouldnt allow me to log in with.

I reformatted and reinstalled, and the same thing happened all over again.

Is this a bug or is there something I'm not doing right??

    Hello,

That was weird, can you check the /var/log/messages once, we might get a clue from it.
The file that deals with usernames is /etc/passwd.
Do you have enough memory on your system?
