    Dual booting SUSE/XP

    I am currently using an intel 540J p4 ram512mb HD200g
    running windows XP. I want to insall SUSE 10.1 to dual boot without losing any of the exsisting HD Data Is this possible? Ive dual booted ubuntu and xp before but i had to start from scratch reformating the HD's.

    Yes it should be easy, assuming your hardware doesn't throw any curves at SuSE.

    1st backup important data. Then defrag your winxp partition.

    Then install SuSE. SuSE will recommend how it wants to carve up the hard drive (probably it will recommend 3 new partitions: a swap partition, a "/" partition, and a /home partition. Its probably most simple to accept SuSE's recommendation.

    Note, its always good to have a backup, when ever one is partitioning one's hard drive, or installing an OS.
