how does Suse 10.1 compare with FC6 ? (some newbee questions)
Hi
Thank you for reading my post
i have option to install one of SUSE 10.1 or FC6 which one is better for following items :
-which one can have a better GUI , without forcing me to build some sources
-what is 10.1 kernel version / kde version ?
-does SUSE 10.1 has auto update stuff ?
-Does suse 10.1 has 3d desktop and those nice gadget for desktop ?
Thanks

3/ Yes it does. Suse has a tool called YAST (Yet Another Setup Tool), which can update things for you. By default the auto-updater will be running when you install. But you should read about setting up YAST internet sources.
4/ It doesn't come with XGL by default. You'll have to install that yourself, but I think that's the same for all distros.
SUSE and Fedora tend to be very polished operating systems, with good hardware detection, and good for people new to linux. I would recommend trying both of them (perhaps as a dual boot), and seeing which one you prefer.Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

suggestion
I haven't used FC6, but all my collegues at the office use it, and from what I am told it is very good and very stable.

I recommend you post this problem in the Red Hat / Fedora forum, and see if you can get help there.

Just to complete the answer of question 2, my suse 10.1 installation uses kernel 2.6.16, and KDE 3.5.
