Post Can not Install Suse 10.1 on my Desktop

    Hello,

I tried to install Suse 10.1 on my Dell desktop and when I got to the installation summary step under SOFTWARE I got the error :

    No catalog found at
    'dvd:///?devices=/dev/hda'.

and of course the installation wont go further

if I try to add the add-ons CD in a prior step I get the message:

Unable to create catalog from url 'cd:///'.

I have installed Suse 10.1 from the same DVD and with the same add-ons CD on my Dell laptop and everything went fine.

    Please Help

Can not format the linux partition

    Thanks for the reply,

I have tried to format the linux partition (ext3), I have a Fedora 5 installed there, but partition magic 8.0 can't do it. I am going to try with a later version.

you can delete Linux partitions through Disk Management Tool of Windows.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Dual Boot!

Most of your dual boot software applications once burned to a disk will let you delete a partition and have in remain unformatted this allowed me to install SuSE 10.1 with np, just remember if your HDD doesn't support dma turn it off in boot options this proved to be a pain for me, as you may know if you read my other post's.
