I use amarok for music, xine for movies, Gaim for instant messaging, Open Office for document editing, Nexuiz for my first person shooter needs , nethack with Vulture's Claw GUI for role playing needs, FreeCiv for and Wesnoth for strategic needs. This is my selection, there's a huge variety out there (Can I hear a Yeay for Linux and Open Source ? ). You probably have alternatives in installing them like package managers.

    Enjoy

As already noted, installing a 3rd party software manager, to help you install applications, is highly recommended.

absolutley you wont need any more sources than those, also I would recommend using amarok as a media player, and I would also recommend googling Suse 10.1 JemReport, its a great howto on getting all your codecs and stuff working for different media types. Woo for open source!
