Ok im reasonably new to suse 10.1 and have it installed before running fine but i today formatted re-intalled with no probs and now when i boot up the system ...

    Monitors Fades/Backlight Dim

    Ok im reasonably new to suse 10.1 and have it installed before running fine but i today formatted re-intalled with no probs and now when i boot up the system after a few mins the screen "backlight" shuts off although i can still see the screen although no light?...
    the laptop is a toshiba 1800 712 i have tried turning power management off.

    Try setting your Boot Options to NO ACPI.

    From YAST Power Management did you use the Other Settings option to try ACPI OFF, etc.?

    I assume that these symptions occur each time you boot up. In other words the backllght always comes on but only for a few minutes???

    hey thanks for the response i changed a few settings refresh rate, screen resolution ETC rebooted and its been fine since just guessing either modules/drivers or something along those lines were`nt booting up...and now they are
