- 11-02-2006 #2Kaffeine and Xine will probably do the trick. The problem you're having is likely because SuSE doesn't ship with the proper codecs to be able to play some media out of the box. Here's a tutorial that might help you fix that.

TechieMoe's Tech Rants

thanks for your replies
I get an error message after which when I want to add the packages through YAST it doesn't go through. the system just freezes
- 11-17-2006 #6Dependant on your SuSE-10.1 version (the "original" or the "remastered"), and dependant on whether you have added the YaST software package manager updates, and dependant on which way you are trying to do the update, this problem can occur.

Assuming that you have sorted the dependencies, you can always install an rpm from the rpm command in a konsole. For example:
rpm -Uvh oldcpu-example-package-0.001.i386.rpm

I would recommend VLC player because it does every audio and video file known to man (ok...well at least most of them).
Add packman to your YaST directory (http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...e_Repositories) (its the first one) and then search for vlc. It will download all the dependancys too."Do or do not...there is no try" -Yoda
