Is There a Way to Change Installation Path for GNOME and KDE in SUSE?

    Hi,
In SUSE (10.1) installation, GNOME is installed by default to /opt/gnome and KDE to /opt/kde3.
Is there a way to have SUSE install GNOME and KDE in a diffrent path? ...and how?

    Thanks a lot!

Not without either building it from source or manually editing all of the packages. At least to my knowledge. Why would you want to change it?

The paths are hard coded into the Suse rpms. If you want to change their default installation path, you would have to edit their spec files in their source rpms and then rebuild them all which can be a lengthy and tedious process. Another option is the one mentioned above i.e. compile from source.
