Can I install SuSE 10.1 on my system without problems?
I have SuSE 10.1 on a DVD disk.

My current system is running Windows XP pro
and Xandros Home Edition Version 4.
If I install SuSE 10.1 on my system will it work with
    Windows XP and Xandros?

My system is Dell Dimension 2350 with a WD 250GB drive,
    1.8GHz Pentium 4 and 512MB of memory.

    Thank You

The only thing that might trip you up from what I can see is getting the partition scheme correct. Also, what kind of video hardware does that model Dell use?

I used Partition Magic 8.0(In Windows XP) to setup
    120GB, 60GB, 20GB, 20GB and 17GB partitions.
The video hardware is on the motherboard and works with Xandros.

ensure you defrag your windows (and backup)

Per techieMoe's querry, what graphics do you have on the motherboard? Intel? Ati? nVidia?

Ensure you backup, and then defrag, your winXP & Xandros partitions, prior to proceeding.

Edit: Since you have a linux distribution running already, you may wish to copy some of your linux config files (or print them out) and have them handly, in case you have a difficult time configuring SuSE. I'm not saying there will be, but why not be prepared in case there is a hickup.

You could check the following web site to see if your model# of Intel Extreme Graphics controller is included (with Linux support being provided):

Is your Suse 10.1 dvd the remastered version or the original first release version. You should not have a problem with the remastered version. I'am a sixty-six year old windows xp pro killer nothing I like better then blowing windows xp off a hard drive with linux!

    Hello Ed
I am also a retired sixty-six year FORTRAN Aerospace programmer.
How do I tell if the Suse 10.1 dvd is remastered version
or the original first release version.
I purchased the Suse 10.1 dvd on Ebay.

Smile Install SuSE 10.1 on my system with one Major problem!!!

Install SuSE 10.1 on my system with one Major problem!!!

SuSE LINUX 10.1 works great on my system!!!
    However, SuSE 10.1 wiped-out my
    Xandros Home Edition Version 4.
It looks like SuSE 10.1 installed on the last partition of my Hard drive.
Can I select another partition to install SuSE 10.1?

Unfortunately I had installed Xandros on the last partition.
I will re-installed Xandros on another partition.
When I re-installed Xandros it will replace the
SUSE Boot Manager with the Xandros Boot Manager.

Is there any way to keep the SUSE Boot Manager?
Can I use the Boot Magic(from Partition Magic) as the Boot Manager?
    Thank You

PS: Also Windows XP pro is working.
Windows XP pro is installed in the first Partition.

yes, its possible. but you will have problem in adding an entry for Xandros in SuSe's GRUB later on. install Xandros and its boot loader.
re-install SuSe's Boot Loader ( GRUB ) after Xandros installation and add an option for Xandros in its GRUB.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
