    Angry Quick Grub Question

I have windows XP and SUSE 10.1 running on the same machine. I partitioned my hard drive using partition magic. Everything has been up and running well for months.

I then Installed Norton Ghost so i can copy the linux partion to another hard drive so that it will run just SUSE 10. The ghosted image was copied to the new hard drive with no trouble except when i had to reboot it just stay at the Grub 1.5 and the curser would keep flashing but it would never boot into linux.

The grub menu on my windows machine with win xp and suse 10 installed gave me a choice to boot to suse or windows. The new hard drive does not even go to that menu at all.

I have tried to boot from the cd and it gives me many options. I guess the one thaty makes the most sence is SYSTEM RESCUE. I just don't understand what to type in the boxes. It seems like it is asking for a path to the media source. I just want to be able to fix the boot menu some how or the grub file.

Any Ideas? I really don't want to do a reinstall. I takes a long time to get everything to work right in linux. I even got my Nvidia card to work right.

Installation safe option is not what i want because it says it will erace my hard drive and I dont want to do that

Also there was a prompt that said RESCUE i typed in root the it looked like this
rescue # I don't know what to do from this point on. Is there a way to edit a certian file so i can boot into linux?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

boot up from Installation CD and select 'installation'.
Select 'Upgrade' in next screen. dont select any new package. just click next next.....
    this will install GRUB again.

Installer couldn't find *installed* OS and GRUB is waiting at stage 1.5.
it means partition structure is not good. boot up from any LiveCD and post the output of 'fdisk -l' command.

Does it have to be a liveCD? i have the full install DVD.

Also how do I do this - post the output of 'fdisk -l' command?

Is that something that will show up when i try to boot from the LIVECD?

    Thanks?

'fdisk -l' command shows the layout of partition structure and reports errors, if any.
on booting through LiveCD, execute this command in terminal/konsole.

Full install DVD doesn't work as LiveCD.
btw, did you boot up from 'full install DVD' for installing GRUB?
