    Access files on Linux machine from remote Windows box

    Hi,

    this probably belongs in the Server forum but since this will be applied to a SuSE 10.1 install it may belong here.

    I would like to ask for some advise on what the best way to handle the below is;

    Would like to set up a browseable folder on XP machine (at home) that links to a folder on a remote Linux server (Office, some other place), ofcourse through SSH.
    What steps are there to take? Is there a ready-made Novell/SuSE solution for this? Looked at RDP, but they are Linux->Win Terminal server and UltraVNC etc. all assume that the server is Win! Or do I misunderstand?
    If not, could you help me with a (link to a) walkthrough?

    Appreciate any input!!

    Marinus.

    A browsable folder? Well the native method is to use sftp/scp. download and use winscp and then you have a ftp like client to access the linux box. If you have to have a windows browsable folder like normal windows folders then you could setup webdav with ssl.

    There's always a vpn and samba.

    The goal is to be able to work from home and manipulate Quicken files and other data like office documents on the Linux file server.
    VPN seems the right solution. So I need to put another network card in the file server and take it from there.
    There is a lot of info on Google I see. What VPN solution/tunneling software/instructions would you recommend?

    Thanks,

    Marinus.
