    My guess here is that you want to buy an hard drive, one of type IDE probably (as oppose to SATA which is a newer technology and probably won't fit on your computer).

    hard drive

    but if
    i get a new hard drive
    wont then all of my saved memory
    be gone with the old hard drive

    how do i just upgrade it

    You can add a second harddrive if you have room for it in your case, and available power port. It's pretty normal. I've run home PCs with up to 4 harddrives at a time. Usually the disks come with instructions if you buy a retail box. Either way you'll need to format and mount your drive afterwards. There are ways to get your old data onto the new disk and just use the new one but it may be a bit advanced if you have never fitted a disk before.
