    Unable to load KDE

    Hello Everyone

If this question has already been asked then I apologize for not being able to find it, and thus double posting.

To make a long story short, my SuSe 10.1 linux won't start KDE on startup.

When I in the command line type "kde" it says:

xset: unable to open display ""
xsetroot: unable to open display ' '
    startkde: Starting up ...
kdeinit: Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set.
Warning connect() failed: : No such file or directory
ERROR: Couldn't attact to DCOP server!
    startkde: Shutting down...
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
    Error: Can't contact kdeinit!
    Starting artsd!
kcminit: cannot connect to X server
    startkde: running shutdown scripts...
    startkde: done.

Any ideas how I might get my KDE running?

    All thanks,
    Simon

You don't start KDE by typing "kde". KDE is launched by the X Windows server internally. To start X Windows from the command line you type:

    Code:
    startx
