I am a newbie but my monitor is doing some what of the same thing but my monitor displays out of range... After doing some research I am to find that I have settings all messed up some where.... Recommendations to play with the monitor settings in /etc/X11/XF86config
Also said to try using the command Sux2 -r
it is suppose to startup the linux configuration but really don't know much on the subject...

suggestion
I think the file meant was /etc/X11/xorg.conf (unless one is using a real old version of SuSE). Some time back there was a software fork from xfree86 to xorg, and hence the config file now is xorg.conf.
