SuSe 9.3 professional on my AcerTravelmate 240
Hi forums,I just instaled linux (SuSe 9.3 professional) on my laptop (AcerTravelmate 240) and as many of you already understand,I am experiencing some problems...

Most of my drivers are autodetected and working fine,my graphic card and cpu drivers are missing though (onboard graphics card and Intel Celeron 2.6GHz) also a few more drivers are missing.
My main problem is that I don't know how to plug my linux on the net.I have a dsl modem onto a hub and want to connect it via the hub on the modem...I tried to do it from the help menu, but cann't do it...
any help is apprieciated
I would be glad to see some info from u guys
thank you in advance

run yast then go to network settings. you will find everything you need. go to the network tab and you will see your network card. edit it (your ip, network gate...) then apply the settings.

how big are your harddrive(s)
suse 10.0 and 10.1 needs at least 16GBytes of space. these programs will selected omit part of the program leaving you with not a full loaded version of linux/suse. Oh, by the way you will need an extra 25gbytes for swap and for additional storage space.

And what's with the 25GB for swap and additional storage space?? You can't predict how much storage space someone will need -- someone running a firewall may need very little space, whilst someone running a http server may need a couple of terabytes!!
The main question I have for you, is what, exactly does your post have to do with this thread (fixing someone's net access and graphics cards)!?!??Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

For a laptop, I would HIGHLY recommend getting 10.1 and going straight from that.

You will save yourself many headaches by going with 10.1 and scrapping 9.3.
This should probably go in the Wireless forum, but...

What you do in SUSE is to setup your network connection as TCP/IP. Yo go into YaST > Network > Network Card and configure your card to be on the network. That's how I've been using it and configuring my family and friends with SUSE.
