SuSE 10.1 updating software
Dear all,
I have just installed a copy of SUSE 10.1
However, after configuration I would have expected to have found software updates under Yast?
Instead I am told there are no available updates could this be true?
I did read in the release notes to type in as root #rug refresh which I have done and still no updates available.
I did also read that SUSE 10.1 has a problem with its updating software package. I am seeing a consquence of that or literally everything was updated, when during the installation process I logged into Novell and typed in the activation ID? The computer did seem to hang for a while, I could not tell if anything was happening though. Eventually it lead me to a webpage listed various updates, security ones too and the instructions were to use YOU to download them, but I don't see any available updates??
Any clarification will be useful.

You can update your computer using yast if you add a few repositories. I can't remember the link at the moment, but I have posted it on these forums a couple of times. If you google for "cool solutions yast repositories" you will find a few novell links with instructions on how to do this.
Sorry for the short reply, but I gotta run. Post back here if you need more clarification. Good Luck!!!Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

suse 10.1 updates (no installable provider) yast
Hi:
The release notes say you may need to do "refresh rug" as root so yast can see the updates. I did this and it fixed the problem for me. The refresh took several minutes. You should see processes such as
zmd
parse-metadata
update-status
and output like
Refreshing Services... 66%
I think you need to close yast while you do this.
I found the information in the release notes which are in yast under miscellaneous.
