Smile How do I tell if I am running 64 or 32 Bit

I have just installed SuSE on a dual Opteron machine. I can see that it has detected the two processors but I can't see whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit. Any pointers.

    Best regards
    Tim

The kernel name should let you know. Try typing "uname -a" and look at the output. If you see anything like "x86_64" then you're running a 64 bit kernel.

    Thanks

No mention of -64 anywhere in the output just SMP so I guess I will have to compile a 64 bit kernel.

    Regards
