Hi,
You need to tell us what linux distribution you are using.
Otherwise if you open a terminal -
login as root by entering su
enter ifconfig to list network interfaces that the kernel recognised.

type of network
what type of network you have ?
wireless or wired ?
anyway what you mean by network interface name ????
just as you listed via ifconfig,
it is mainly the 3 letter and 1 number word, like : eth0 or ath0 or whatever is in the front of all thos info

the card is a wireless intel pro wireless 3945abg and the eth0 and stuff like that dont work

im using a virtual machine does it make any difference because i need the network interface name !!
