    YaST hangs during Software Management

    I'm experiencing a problem with Yast (SUSE 10.1, AMD64) when trying to install a package form either the command line version or the GUI version.

    Yast initialises ok, and the package information is read ok, however, on the command line (ncurses) when a list of packages is displayed I cannot tab or navigate to any of the menu options it appears to hang here. The GUI version doesnt get even as far as displaying the package information. I have tried rebuilding the db with;

    rpm --rebuilddb

    but no joy, and the output of the /var/log/YaST2/ y2logRPM does not alude to anything interesting

    Also, when I kill the command line version there is no cursor in the shell window.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Interesting.

    Has this problem existed since you installed SUSE, or has it just started recently?

    This problem has only just surfaced, the machines were built several months ago, and several packages have been installed successfully since the initial install.

    Not sure what the problem was, but it appears to have resolved itself after a reboot. Unfortunately due to the usage of the machine I cannot do this at will.

    Hmmm..... Could be one of "those" problems. I.e. the kind of problem that only happens once, you don't know how to make it happen again, and you never find a good explanation for it.
