    Kde Clock Appearance Is Screwy

For the longest time my KDE clock's appearance has been messing up. The time was in military time and wouldn't change when I selected a time zone and to be in local time, well I fixed that and that's one problem solved.

I'm running SUSE 10.0. I don't know what other information someone would need to know to help me. Well anyways, the clock seems alright except for when I switch over to digital. The digital clock is all off centered and is a bit more towards the right. This seems to happen when I switch themes to much. It also recently happened when limewire crashed. I've tried deleting my user then recreating it. It seemed to help once but this time it's not doing much. Tried switching all theme stuff to defaults and it does nothing.

It's been bothering me soo much, I'd appreciate it very much if someone can tell me what's going on.

BTW.. totally not related problem but once in a while Limewire seems to crash on occasion when it's "Loading the core components..." and my whole system freezes. I figure maybe it does that every now and then after I upgraded my kernel but I have no clue. So if anyone can help me with that it'd be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks. I know this is probably a stupid question.

    It's not a stupid question ...

I to use SUSE v10.0 and have found it to be better than most BUT it to has it's share of flaws and that clock setting is but one of many.

As for the clock setting itself, odds are you'll have to settle for something like a White Background and Black Foreground; I would prefer a black background with a light green foreground but I can't get the system to display such a color scheme.

While I for one do like the twenty four hour clock (excellent for keeping date and time sensative logs) I prefer the three digit day of the week abreviation such as "SAT" for Saturday or "WED" for Wednesday etc but I haven't figured out how to achieve this with the current Suse version and I'm not convinced it can be done in a practical manner by a novice Linux user such as myself.

    Hope this helps some.

This is going to bother me forever.

My clock was set right when I installed SUSE and all the sudden it got knocked into military time.

~Fixed that by right clicking on it and going to date & time format and changing the first letter to a lower case p. The clock is still screwy though with positioning if I wanted to put it in digital mode. I have a feeling if I change the theme like last time it's gonna get all wierd positioned and the text will be wierd. I think maybe this time if I delete the user and re make the account it might fix it but I don't feel like re applying settings and stuff considering this will happen again.

Is this a problem in SUSE 10.1? I purchased 10.0 a few years ago basicly to have all the disc and not spend the time downloading them. I heard the free distro of 10.1 is missing some important packages and I don't really want to buy the distro over again because other than this clock problem and the themes being screwy I find suse to be pretty alright.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
