    suse on 64bit laptop

    hi
    i bought a gateway mx6453 and need help installing suse on it. here are the specs for the laptop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1157067806537

    i'm currently downloading suse 64bit version 10.2 beta. Can someone tell me if this is okay or do i need some other version. I have a ati graphics card and amd64x2 processor.

    i wont suggest you 'beta' version. its in a test stage and you might get problems with beta. 10.1 is stable.
    there isn't any visible performance difference between 32bit and 64bit versions. check this link !

    i read that 10.2 has many improvements over 10.1

    i read the advantages and disadvantages, but do u suggest that i get a 64bit suse linux?

    64bit would be the better version for you

    If you read the thread that was linked to, you'll know that I personally don't think 64-bit is worth your time at this point. I suggest you stick with 32-bit.
