    Kppp Dialer

I'm sure this has been brought up before but I'm going to ask it again ...

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 lapttop and have installed Suse v10.0 and have repeatedly tried to get the Kppp dialer to work, and it will not, and I keep getting the following displays:

.1. "DON'T HAVE SUFFICIENT PERMISSION TO USE SBIN PPPD"
.2. "MAKE SURE KPPP IS OWNED BY ROOT AND HAS SUID BIT SET"

and when I dial out I get the following:

.3. "UNABLE TO CREATE MODEM LOCK FILE"

Interestingly enough I can get this Suse v10.0 to dial out and get onto the Internet when in ROOT and only when in ROOT. What is needed to get the Kppp dialer to work when NOT in ROOT?

Is there anyone out there who can advise me in plain English what has to be done to get this system to work when NOT in ROOT?

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
