Hi to all i have installed suse 10.1 my problem is that i can open "YaST" it require a root password i have give right password but it says incorrect ...

    Hi to all

    i have installed suse 10.1
    my problem is that i can open "YaST" it require a root password
    i have give right password but it says incorrect and after appliying three time it vanish

    before that i installed skype with out help of YaST it work just but no software install's

    is 'root' password working for other applications? are you able to log in as 'root'?

    and just on account is there in my computer that's me only'''

    would i required to reinstall this os

    NO ! log in as root and in Yast, User Manager, add your 'normal user' in 'Wheel' group.

    sorry iam already in a root and yast rquired password for this but it show's password is incorrect when i gives......

    Sir,when the suse lock's(at screen saver time) it as for the password and at that time the password it accept but i dont know why yast not take the passord or when i install any software

    thats weird... log in as normal user and try 'Yast' again. let c...

    If that doesn't work maybe try to reinstall Yast through RPM package manager?

    finally, Iam tired with this Suse But sir i will try till the end
    now iam try to reinstall suse last time,what precosotion
    should i take now plz tell me. and i dont wont to lose my previousdata.becouse my pc even have windows xp install in it

    i think re-install is the best option right now.
    you are dual booting and i think you know the installation procedure. during installation, select existing partition structure of SuSe in partition section.

    Are you sure you've logged in as root? Normally you have different password for logging in to the OS and for root. You don't normally log in as root. The root password is the one you type in in the installation process, which the tell you not to forget. But if you are sure you are logged in as root and it doesn't work then I guess it's best to try to re-install the OS...
