Computer Won't Switch On!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was installing the Ati Radeon drivers and to test it I went to play Alien Arena. It didn't work, instead I got the "no 3d support detected" warning dialog, and instead of the game starting up my screen became huge (about 4 times the size of my monitor).
I restarded my computer and instead of being welcomed by Grub, NOTHING! Just the "Press F2 to enter setup, press F12 for the boot selection menu." Unfortunately, when I press either of those it returns "ENTERING.." and it never does.
Please, PLEASE help me!

GRUB got corrupted. Boot from SuSe Installation CD and select 'installation'. in next screen, select 'Upgrade'. dont select any new package... just click next next next... this will re-install GRUB.
casperIt is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

As I said, it just says "Entering.." and never does. I can't boot cd, go into bios setup or boot selection menu.

Computer doesn't boot
Try to disconnect all the cables from the motherboard and switch the computer on again n.b. is the speaker making any noise when you switch on the computer?

When you turn on your computer does your BIOS even do a BIOS check? Ususally at that screen when it's doing a memory check and telling you how fast your processor is and stuff like that, you have to hit delete on most computers, or F2 on Dells. This will bring you into your BIOS configuration utility. Go to your boot order and put CD as primary boot order. Right now you probably have it set to HDD. Then reboot and it should try to run off the CD first.
When you get back into Linux again, I suggest usuing LILO, not GRUB. I've had too many problems with GRUB.
- 12-01-2006 #8what problems you had with GRUB? GRUB is very easy to handle and tweak. all major distros are using GRUB as boot loader. i never recommend anyone to use 'LILO'.

For some reason, GRUB never works for longer than a week on my computer. I installed it, then it get's corrupted, so I re-install it, and it gets corrupted, and it just keeps doing that. I even had a buddy of mine who has been running nothing but Linux for the last 10 years install it thinking I was doing something wrong, and it still did it. I switched to LILO and have had no problems since.

BIOS does do a check- but I can't get into configuration.
The speaker makes computer beeps when I press the arrow keys.
What cables are all cables? My USB and ethernet? Or do I have to open it up and disconnect everything?
