Windows 98se and Suse 10.1 coexistence.
Hi Suse experts! here comes somebody who is willing to do more than the brain allows and that's why I need all help I can get. My good old laptop is not willing to start easy I have been warming it up in the morning with my wife's hair dryer, the start up button misses to power up, I have to push 20-30 times before the light comes on and the fan starts. Because of that I installed on my 6years old Pentium III 500Mhz, 500MB mem, 38GB new hd the Linux Suse 10.1 (with help from Casper) and amazing I got Skype tested both phoning direct and computer to computer it just works terrific.
The Suse partitioning reads: /dev/hdb2/reiserfs 14.998 MB Tot.
/dev/hdb3/home reiserfs 22.402 MB Tot.
/dev/hdb1/ Swap Swap.
I have no idea if this is wright or if it is not, if I can change it and how.
The old hd I took out during the installation was C (13MB) and has all my stuff with win 98SE os on it. I set the bios to start from D it starts ok but goes through a funny cycle shut down and restart again with Suse, takes 2minutes and
5 seconds.
The third question is when I loaded the Suse from Internet site there where
5 CD's (remastered type) they all tasted ok but the setup only asked for 3
what I do with the remaining ones? I down loaded first from MG? they read wrong like "md5 sum wrong". I am afraid to put the old13MB drive back on without really knowing what I am doing. This looks like a big job for anybody of you who is able to help me, you can't send me to university either because I am soon filling my 80 Young years. Thanks for anybody who will get with me in the battle. Regards Raimond.
