2 Networking related problems with SuSE 10.1
Hey all,
Been running 10.1 for a couple of months and have generally been very happy with it. Got two networking related issues though:
1. When trying to add a route via Yast, there seems to be no change in the routing table (checked using "route" command). Only manual "route add" does the trick.
2. A more serious issue: I have two GBE PCI express devices. eth0 is a Lenovo Netlink card, configured to get an address via DHCP from our work servers. eth1 is an Intel e1000 card configured to have a fixed IP address. Now if I only have eth0 connected to our LAN, then there's no problem. BUT, when I connect eth1 to anything that gives it an Ethernet link integrity (even an empty switch), then eth0 loses its IP address, and sometimes even doesn't show up in the monitored networking cards. The strange thing is that grepping /var/log/messages for DHCP shows that eth1 is trying to get an address via DHCP, even though it is configured to have a static IP address! This means that I can effectively use just one NIC.
Would appreciate help in any of these issues.
Cheers,
D.

OK, here's an update:
BOTH problems were resolved after switching the network setup method from NetworkManager to ifup (via Yast). Seems like NM has some stability issues, so I guess this problem can also fit in there.
