Some suggestions. Boot to run level 3 (ie type "level 3" in the grub boot options) and loggin as a regular user. Type "su" to get root permissions and then type "yast". Go to HARDWARE > MOUSE Module (or what ever it is called) and find a mouse driver that works. Test it (if possible as part of yast) and then exit yast. Then either:
    a. reboot (type "shutdown -r now"), or
    b. type "exit" to get rid of root permissions and then type "startx".
