Did you check the MD5? You may want to try installing via CDs.
I praise Webmin and PuTTy!

You can see what the MD5 "should" be, and you check it against what you get when you perform the operation yourself. If the number *do not match* then there is a problem with the file, and you ought to download it again (and verify again) If you keep getting problems, try using www.utorrent.com on windows or whatever linux uses (i don't do filesharing apps anywaysCode:g34h5bn6n7n8m89m9j8fnen3

noAPIC
There are other "safe" ways to install I think it's called no APIC, you should be able to see it on the install screen. I've had sucess with disabling that (installing a Mandrake system on an IBM Aptiva). Also you might want to edit your BIOS to say "no" on APIC aware OS. This is just something to save power (I assume like your hard discs spinning down / sleep mode / etc...) and it's more trouble then it's worth.
