10.2 problem after one hour using

After installed openSUSE 10.2, i imediately added packman and guru repositories to install ntfs-3g and libxine to listen to music and access ntfs drive. But after short time using and several times restart computer, I received the following message when try to login kde : "could not start kdeinit. Check your installation". And it don't let me go through the login screen.

Everything still ok when using gnome, but kde is not. Even though i reinstall openSUSE, install libxine and ntfs-3g from source it's still the same problem.

    Any ideas, any helps ?

    Thanks very much.

My PC is DELL Inspiron E1505.

You say you can boot to Gnome but not to KDE? ... Strange.

My guess is either you have either:
    a. some incorrect executeable file / library, or
    b. a messed up KDE configuration.

A some what drastic, but possibly successful approach, is to rename the directory /home/username/.kde to .kde-back. If that doesn't work, then it suggests you have some incorrect executeable file or library. If that works, it suggests you had a messed up KDE configuration.

By renaming /home/username/.kde, you can always put it back.

i assume that Gnome is working perfectly. lets check KDE configuration. create a new user, select KDE session at login screen and log in as New User.
does KDE work for New User?

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
