    AIGLX Question

Before anyone even tries to coerce me to use XGL, screw it!, and stop yourself from being embarassed, as it will not work with my Graphics...

    Not right anyways...

So I'm trying to use Beryl, and I know it works on this card with AIGLX, and with compiz rather than beryl too, ( I tried both on Mandriva and Kubuntu) So, I don't know what parameters to set in my X.org config file to enable AIGLX and acceleration and what not.

    Any suggestions on settings?

Which graphic card are you using ?
Did you install the proprietary drivers for it ?
Which version of Suse are you using ?

Some hints on /etc/X11/xorg.conf configuration here :

I am using the Intel i865 onboard graphics chipset...
Are there proprietary drivers for it...
    I'm using Suse 10.2...

Also... I apparently got AIGLX working... now I can't get beryl to work...

    When I start Beryl

jase@Leingod:~> libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
    No window manager. Waiting...
    XGL Absent, checking for NVIDIA
    Nvidia Absent, assuming AIGLX
beryl: Another composite manager is already running on screen: 0
beryl: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
    New Window Manager

    jase@Leingod:~> kwin
    trying '/home/jase/.xcompmgrrc' as configfile

    finished parsing the config file
    New Window Manager
Found not compatible window manager. Waiting...
    jase@Leingod:~> No window manager. Waiting...

I have to start kwin then because nothing comes up, no headers...

also... none of the Beryl effects are working even when I manually set kwin in Beryl-manager, also I get errors when I select any window manager "Composite manager twice restarted in the last two minutes, disabling"

No, just the free drivers, so no drivers to install.

AIGLX is on by default, you just need to proper window manager to use it. Either Compiz or Beryl will do it.

    For Compiz :

    For Beryl :

Are you using KDE or GNOME ?

Nono, AIGLX was off, I add to add the lines to the correct location in my xorg.conf to have it working, I can tell the differences... the shadows are now present my kwin manager is all rounded off perfectly, etcetera...

    I'm using KDE,

Beryl is not working, nor is compiz
