Unhappy once again making the same question :\

    hello...it's me again,the desperate-to-learn-linux-os...
I have managed to install suse linux 10.1 about a month now,but I couldn't fix my internet connection wich I need very much...I have also downloaded lots of books and read lots of threads to see how I can do it,but couldn't find a clue...so I am asking for some step by step guidance...
I am using Fritz.box(modem) connected to a simple hub for 3 PCs and each PC is using its own IP.Here are the details I want to add to my linux system according to the other PCs using windows:

    IP : 192.168.178.35
    subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
    default gateway : 192.168.178.1
    preffered DNS : 192.168.178.1

I know how to do this thing work in windows, but I am having major problems in linux.....
    plz help

I used YAST to configure my NW cards and that's what I found very user friendly to configure. Just insert the definitions you already collected in your posting above inside of YAST and you're done

I tried to configure my internet connection through Yast, but don't know where each value goes...so I'd like to have some explanation for each field...I tried several times to do that, but I couldn't still connect to the net... :\
