    some questions

Ok i don't have Linux yet, i am building a computer now to put it on. I am using Windows XP Pro on this computer right now. What i need to know is on the SUSE download page ; http://download.opensuse.org/ . Where it give you choice : x86, x86-64, pcc. Which one do i choose? Also, where it give you the links for CD1, CD2, CD3, CD4, CD5. Can i put all of those onto one CD in that order? or do i have to make separate CDs. Thanks and sorry for so many questions i could appreciate the help.

Hi there! Welcome to the forums!

The choice you make (x86, x86-64, etc.) depend on the type of CPU you have. x86 is for 386, 486, pentium, etc., and this is the most likely choice for you, unless you're installing on a 64bit machine (so you could use x86 or x86_64), or on a old style Mac (PPC).

You'll have to make separate CDs, as each of those links will have a full CDs worth of data on it. Make sure to check the md5sums after downloading them, and burn them at 4X in order to minimise the risk of errors.

    Good luck!

Thanks im pretty sure im running pentium so i'll download under x86. I know this is possibly the stupidest thing i could say but i want to learn to hack, im really curious about how things work and such. But to make a computer to 'hack' using
linux what specs should i have, for ex. should i have around 2G RAM? What would be a good setup for a computer to do this.

I dont know any of you, hopefully i wont get insulted and banned for asking this.

It depends what you mean by "hack".

If you mean to get the most out of your computer by setting up a very highly configured system -- right down to the nuts and bolts of the OS -- then yes, linux is for you.

If you mean, to crack other people's systems in order to cause damage, steal from them, or take over their computer for your own ends, then I hate you, and I hope you get banned. People like that should f&ck off and leave the rest of us alone.

download the DVD from torrent. Its only one disc (easier to manage than 5 or 6) and you don't but heavy strain on the servers. Also, the torrent is very very fast, and you can be more assured of a "good" download.
