SUSE 10.1 install problem on extra int Sata hdd
Hello. I am a newbie who has checked all of the forums and ask.com to see if I could figure this out. I couldn't find my exact question anywhere. So Thank you all for any and all help you can give me. I'll appreciate it regardless. Here goes:
I have been wanting to try Linus for awhile now but I didn't want to risk my Windows install. I saw online that someone suggested installing it to an extra hdd. I added an extra Samsung SATA hdd to my machine and after disconecting the main SATA hdd that has my Windows XP Pro install on it. I then installed SUSE 10.1 from a DVD I got with Linux magazine. It booted up great by itself. The problem is that now that the main hdd is installed I try to boot it by going into bios and changing the HDD boot priority like I read online. It starts to boot up and then posts the following error message:
Waiting for device /dev/sda5 to appear.......not found $
I read the forums for the simular problem but it all had to do with booting off of usb keyes. Can anyone help. I included a few pics of the screen during boot.

Once again "thank you for your help"

Thank you
Devils_Casper,
Thank you for your help. I'll be able to do that tomorrow. It's good to know the great things I've heard about the Linux Community are true. I'll write back soon.
Sincerely,
Brent

I just thought of something. Since this is a SATA rig. Would I just put the order in the boot menu as:
1) Primary Suse disk
2) Secondary-Windows
3)media
4) Storage
Would that be correct?

yes ! its correct but you wont be able to boot up Windows. boot up SuSe and post the contents of menu.lst and device.map files, and output of fdisk -l command.
